Editor's review
This freeware add-on makes it easy to access online media, including radio stations and news, and also has a wealth of tools for better browsing.
Streaming Internet Radio Toolbar, which adds to your Internet Explorer toolbar suite, sports a simple design and allows you to easily choose which components are displayed. Like other toolbars, it has a built-in search option that will give you results from eBay, Amazon, Wikipedia, and other sites. The pull-down menus offer quick access to the latest RSS feeds and top videos from YouTube and Google. In addition to the standard privacy tools, it offers an online virus scan and firewall security test and links to free antivirus software. Some fun extras include Route Finder, Text Translation, and a YouTube or Google video downloader. You can customize the toolbar components and add shortcuts to programs like Microsoft Word and Windows tools like the registry editor.
Our one complaint is that some of the components aren't labeled on the toolbar or in Toolbar Options, so you have to click to find out what they are. (Hint: The mallet is for eBay in the UK.) Tool tips would be a nice addition for future versions, but this handy freeware toolbar gets top marks for its flexibility and functionality.
