This word game lacks polished graphics or fancy features, but it is totally free and quite challenging. In Classic WordZap you must form seven words using eight different letters before the computer does. If you beat your opponent, your handicap level decreases, though you can manually make the game harder as well. However, we d suggest starting at the beginner level, as the game forms words very quickly on the upper levels. To make things even more difficult, a word will disappear from your pile if the computer thinks of the same one. Once you ve mastered this game variation, try the other, which turns up the heat by placing rules on the order in which you can select letters. The game doesn t have any sound effects and looks somewhat primitive, but that doesn t really detract from the fun. Best of all, Classic WordZap doesn t cost a cent, so we can definitely recommend it to word nerds and those seeking a vocabulary-building tool.
