Etymonix SoftReel MPEG-2 Video Decoder 2.20
Etymonix
Etymonix SoftReel codec is a faster than real-time MPEG-2 video decoder optimized for single-core and multi-core systems (up to 4 cores). It enables smooth high-quality playback of native MPEG-2 standard-definition (SD) and high-definition (HD) video streams in DVB applications, Windows Media Player and other DirectShow-compatible products. SoftReel's robust design makes it resilient to video stream errors that sometimes occur during transmission.
This MPEG-2 codec is designed for a wide range of uses: from watching digital satellite TV or a DVD in popular DVB applications (such as ProgDVB, DVBViewer, DVBDream, MyTheatre and AltDVB), to playing MPEG-2 files in a wide range of media players, to viewing and sharing files recorded by various MPEG-2 camcorders such as JVC Everio, and much more.
Besides being able to play back MPEG-2 SD and HD video streams up to 1920x1152, it also supports 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 DVB/ATSC broadcast feeds, unencrypted DVDs with MPEG-2 audio (for AC-3 audio, a free third-party decoder is available), HDV streams (with a third-party MPEG-2 parser), MPEG-1 video, Super Video CD (SVCD), China Video Disc (CVD), Video CD (VCD) and a wide range of file formats (MPG, VOB, DAT, M2P, M2V, etc). It includes MMX/SSE/SSE2 optimizations and has been tested on a wide range of x86 processors and Windows operating systems. If you are a developer, the DirectShow filter can also be licensed separately to easily add MPEG-2 video playback to embedded applications (kiosks, digital signage, and more).
Version 2.20 includes numerous fixes for DVD playback (still menus), support for picture slideshow VCD/SVCD discs, experimental support for Windows 7 RC1, and many fixes and improvements.
